If you require an accommodation at the examination, you must obtain prior approval from your licensing authority. If you arrive for the exam without said authorization, you will not be given the desired accommodation.
Interns may require accommodations for various reasons, such as health conditions or disabilities. For instance:
- An intern who is pregnant may request accommodations such as close access to a washroom, permission to have food during the exam, and flexibility regarding cancellation.
- An intern with diabetes may require access to a glucose monitor and permission to have food available.
- An intern with a learning disability might request extra time to write the exams.
To Request an Accommodation
1. Complete the appropriate form through the licensing authority of which you are a member.
2. Include with the form a letter from an appropriate expert and/or professional. The letter must contain a description of the accommodation appropriate to your condition.
3. Submit the form to your licensing authority.
Follow-up to Your Request
Accommodation requests are reviewed by the CExAC. Prior to the exam, the CExAC will send you a letter notifying you of its decision whether to grant the accommodation you requested.
Note: For the OAQ, you must submit the form in your Espace Membre at the same time as your ExAC registration form.
